A small evironment with a big mission. Fort valley middle school Ms.Pelps 6th grade science class is the place, where trojan pride is known. My first surprising encounter was with a student who was far behing in reading, writing ,comprehenson, speling and writing. I began to help this student on a daily basis with his assignments. Some days we were just doing flash card on basic words, pronounciations and spelling, This encouter taught me a great deal of patience. It was exciting for me when he finally was progressing. The class had an election and he wanted to run for class president, which gave him some confidence. From that day forward he began to try harder than he had ever in completing the same work as the other student.

Waitng for Superman
“We need someone with enough power to save our children.” The movie depicts many situations that are everyday factors. Circumstances is sometimes an excuse and it also can be a motivation. But how willing are our teachers to take on the parent job and motivate our students to learn? Everybody wants to blame poverty and issues but the film showed that with the right approach and effectiveness of good teachers, smaller classrroms with programs and funding. But why cant this be our publc schools? Society has a lot to offer our children with limited ways for them to deasl. Being a student observer in the middle school I work with a student that is far behind in reading, writing, and comprehension. It is impossible for the teacher to deal with that individual student with a classroom filed with about 25 to 30 student. So who has failed this child some may say the parent, and some may say the teacher, and some may even say the student. How can a student who does not retain information be held accountable? So whose fault is it , the parent, the student, or the teacher?

I am
I am an intelligent Christian woman
I am respectful to myself and others
I am aware of my strengths
I am working hard to become a better person
I am always learning from my mistakes
I am capable of success
I am free from all limitations
I am whole
I am blessed beyond belief
I am progressing as time passes
I am determined
I am humurous
I am a person of many characteristics
I am more than I know myself to be
I am not perfect
I am respectful to myself and others
I am aware of my strengths
I am working hard to become a better person
I am always learning from my mistakes
I am capable of success
I am free from all limitations
I am whole
I am blessed beyond belief
I am progressing as time passes
I am determined
I am humurous
I am a person of many characteristics
I am more than I know myself to be
I am not perfect

21st Century Classroom
Throw out the chalk boards and enter into a clean enviroment of promethean boards and over head projectors. Technology at its finest. Research based technology impacts student achievement. Computer sits aside in the corner while the students are seated in sets of about four. Many groups that produce creativity and strategized help. Project and designs that covers the wall filled with many of pictures. Hands on activity and real life assessments brought into the class for better explanations. Not only are the teachers talking, the students are also up and participating. This is my vision of a 21 century classroom.
